After training or a match:

Until those instructions are confirmed, FTL should not publish claims such as:

  • Machine washable

  • Dishwasher safe

  • Safe to soak

  • Safe at a specific water temperature

  • Safe with disinfectant spray

  • Safe with vinegar

Soccer Handbook recommends putting shin guards in a washing machine roughly once per month on a gentle setting, even suggesting that hard plastic pieces can be protected inside a pillowcase or soccer sock.

That may work for products whose manufacturers permit it.

It should not become a universal rule.

Different shin guards use different:

  • Shell materials

  • Foams

  • Adhesives

  • Textiles

  • Integrated straps

  • Coatings

  • Graphics

  • Construction methods
